Inn is Perfect Retreat for Concordia Parents

Relaxing with a mug of steaming hot chocolate or a glass of wine in front of the inn’s cozy fireplace is how many of our guests choose to end a busy day in Ozaukee County. It’s also been the perfect spot for parents visiting sons and daughters at Concordia University Wisconsin to catch up with the latest news about their children’s college careers. After discovering just how close Cedarburg is to the university’s Mequon campus, many families have added the Washington House Inn to their list of favorite places to stay.

Missouri Synod

Founded back in 1881 by Lutherans in Wisconsin, Concordia became the first University in the Missouri Synod college system. In 1983 the school moved to its current stunning location, nestled above the bluffs overlooking Lake Michigan, and a recently added School of Pharmacy plus a state-of-the-art Center for Environmental Studies have brought the University even more into the public eye.

Generally speaking, families visit the area to help sons and daughters move into dorms and apartments. But sometimes they come to spend quality time together – maybe attending a concert, seeing a play, trying out new restaurants, and generally catching up with what’s going on in their kids’ lives. Time and again, parents share with us how relaxing it is to come back to the inn at the end of the day. And it’s been exciting for our staff at the inn to watch the university expand and become part of our close-knit Ozaukee County community.
