Sunday, September 14 marks the 30th anniversary of our present day operation and we invite you to a public open house celebration of our Cedarburg boutique hotel. The 30th Anniversary event, from 3:00 – 5:00 p.m., will feature tours of our distinctively unique guest rooms, music, refreshments, gifts, and a drawing to win a Cedarburg weekend.
The Washington House, a historic community landmark dating back to the mid-19th century on the downtown corner of Washington and Center Streets, was built in 1846 as Cedarburg’s first inn. The structure was replaced in 1886 by today’s cream city brick building and operated as a hotel until the 1920’s, when it was converted into offices and apartments. Ownership changed in 1983 and the quarters were restored and renovated to reopen on September 14, 1984, exactly 30 years to the very date of this year’s 30th Anniversary celebration. At that time a Grand Opening event was held, and a line several blocks long waited patiently to tour this re-born beauty.
We have offered casual elegance and historic tradition to our guests for 30 years and this 30th anniversary open house is our thanks for the community support we enjoy and our promise to continue our history of high marks for hospitality.
Open house visitors will receive a commemorative cookbook featuring award winning, and favorite recipes, photos of all 34 guest rooms, and history about early community leaders whose names individually identify inn rooms.
A special feature of the anniversary event will be a drawing for a Cedarburg Weekend, including accommodations at the Inn, dinners at both the Anvil, and Stilt House, lunch at the Cream and Crepe Café, and Cedar Creek Winery Tour. The drawing may be entered at the open house or by entering below.
