Residents and visitors who come to Cedarburg on a regular basis always look forward to the Holiday Art Show & Sale held during the first weekend in December. Organized by members of the Cedarburg Artists’ Guild, and held in the Cedarburg Community Center, just north of the inn, this annual event showcases the exceptional work of more than 40 of our local talented artists. The timing couldn’t be better for discovering one-of-a-kind pieces for holiday gift giving, and it’s also a chance to see Cedarburg at its prettiest, with the shop windows decorated for Christmas and the exterior of all the buildings outlined with thousands of tiny white twinkling lights.
Starting on Friday, Dec. 4, the first day is a long one and runs from 10 in the morning until 8 at night. Each booth offers something different … whether it’s a piece crafted from fiber and wearable art, felted wool pieces, punch needle embroidery, multimedia paintings and mono-prints, drawings, etchings, ceramics, photography, beaded glass, birdhouses or copper yard art, there is really something for everyone. There’s even a children’s book author and illustrator, both of whom will be happy to personally sign one of their books to the child of your choice.
The art show is also a grand chance to chat with guild members and learn about their work. They will be glad to explain just how their creative process starts and develops into the object you are holding in your hand.
Be sure to book your stay with us at the Washington House Inn for the Holiday Art Fair, which is open for three days. On Saturday, Dec. 5, the doors open at 10am and close at 5pm, and on Sunday, Dec. 6 it runs between 11am-4pm.
