Easter Sweets

In the heart of downtown Cedarburg, guests staying at the Washington House Inn have been known to make their way to downtown confectioners when they have an urge for something sweet.

Turn left as you come out of the inn, and spend a few minutes watching chocolatiers at Amy’s Candy Kitchen creating their award-winning caramel apples and all kinds of Easter delights out of Belgian chocolate, aided and abetted by old-world copper kettles and marble tables. Across the street and one block south, you’ll find Beerntsen’s Confectionery, offering the finest of chocolates since 1932 and all kinds of specialty candies, including everyone’s favorite – peanut-butter filled Smidgens. Wander north on Washington Avenue and you’ll stumble upon Ashley’s Confectionery, renowned for its chocolate-dipped strawberries and huge assortment of kids’ favorite candies for ridiculous prices.
You could say it’s a chocolate-lover’s paradise … and all within a stone’s throw of the inn.
