Some years ago, you might have said that cyclists were a fairly rare sight in our fair city … but all this is changing, thanks in part to a unique trail that runs through the heart of downtown Cedarburg. That, and the fact that bike racks for guests to safely tether their steeds are springing up everywhere.
Completed in 2002, the Ozaukee Interurban Trail is a 30-mile paved multi-use free trail that spans the entire length of Ozaukee County. Winding its way through Cedarburg and other friendly communities, as far north as Sheboygan, and passing through woodlands, wetlands, farmlands, Cedar Creek, the Milwaukee River and Lake Michigan. Bring some binoculars as there’s an abundance of birds and assorted wildlife critters found along the trail.
