January 7 – February 5 The Cedarburg Cultural Center presents “All Things Big & Small” a juried exhibit of works by a diverse group of Wisconsin artists in a variety of media. Featuring miniature works alongside large-side ones, this exhibit highlights a thrilling contrast of sizes- from the very small to the very tall. Opening Reception: January 7, 6-9 pm.

January 11 –April 15 two new exhibits open at the Wisconsin Museum of Quilt and Fiber Arts: “100 Years of Girl Scouts” and “Line of Design–Connecting Thread.” The Milwaukee Art Quilters created a spectacular collection of 23 36-inch-square quilts, each containing one connecting red line, for the AQS show in 2010. These stunning works won the Ultimate Guild Challenge award at the Knoxville show. Meet the artists on Sunday, January 29, 1 to 4 p.m.

February 4 ABBA-Arrival at the Cedarburg Performing Arts Center: ABBA-Arrival has performed globally on both stage and TV since 1995 and has entertained millions of ABBA fans around the world. This incredible tribute band brings together some original ABBA musicians, stunning live vocals, beautiful harmonies and choreographed dance routines to create a “truly authentic ABBA experience.” This concert will bring back memories of the ABBA era, with songs such as the Eurovision winner “Waterloo,” through to the haunting sounds of “Fernando” and “Eagle,” then back to toe-tapping favorites like “Dancing Queen,” “Take a Chance on Me” and the ever-popular “Thank You for the Music.” Tickets cost $50.; 7:00pm. www.cedarburgpac.com

February 4 UnCultural Night with Pat McCurdy: Eight-time WAMI (Wisconsin Area Music Award) winner and two-time Billboard Magazine Merit Award (Annual Songwriting Contest) winner, Pat McCurdy returns to Cedarburg during Winter Festival weekend with his offbeat sense of humor and guitar to wow an always enthusiastic Cedarburg Cultural Center crowd with song favorites. Show contains adult language and

February 11 WSSS presents Caleb Hawley: Wisconsin Singer Songwriters Series presents Caleb Hawley on Saturday, Feb. 11 at the Unitarian Church North in Mequon. From Hawley’s ability to write intricate lyrics with cutting-edge chords to his lightning fast licks and ear for taste and style, this shaggy-haired, blue-eyed musician has received top honors in the prestigious New York Songwriters Circle Contest (2008 and 2009), the John Lennon Songwriting Contest (2009), the Telluride Festival (2010), the Falcon Ridge Folk Festival (2010) and Rocky Mountain Folks Fest (2011) for his songwriting, and his voice placed him in the final 50 on the 2011 American Idol Season. He and his dog Fargo have together travelled miles upon miles performing at clubs, colleges and festivals all over the country. www.wsss.org

February 11:  A Renaissance Affair: Art, Music and Romance is a special fundraising gala, featuring works by Michael Santini, Gina Litherland, Nancy Davis and Keith Clayton. February 17 Book Launch and Exhibit by local writer, Sue Goetz-Lawton, “The Circus and the Cyclone” featuring music by The Vitrolum Republic. The Circus and the Cyclone is a fully illustrated work of historical fiction that takes place during one of Wisconsin’s worst natural disasters—the destruction of the town of New Richmond by a tornado in 1899. Cedarburg’s Soulshine Arts offers glassblowing classes for everyone from beginner to advanced levels. Try their Glass Adventure class for anyone who’s ever wanted to try glassblowing.

Glaze Pottery is a hands-on art studio offering 4 types of art medium: pottery, glass fusing, raw clay, and Lilly Ollo (silver clay). Visit them any time without a reservation to create a piece of art in their new Thiensville, WI location.

Pigments Art Studio, located in downtown Cedarburg, combines “a little paint, a little wine and a whole lot of fun” as you paint your own masterpieces.

The Cedar Creek Settlement’s newest retailer Olive & Vinnie’s features 60 gleaming stainless steel tanks filled with the freshest and finest extra virgin olive oils along with flavored Balsamic Vinegars from around the world.

Take in a movie in Historic Downtown Cedarburg at the Rivoli Theatre, one of the few remaining single-screen theatres in operation today. Movies start every night at 7pm with weekend matinees at 3:30pm (both Sat. & Sun.)

Wisconsin is a winter wonderland and there’s no better way to get out and explore and enjoy than to strap on some snowshoes and explore the trails. Local Motion Outfitter’s snowshoe series will take advantage of the best the state and county parks have to offer in the Cedarburg & Kettle Moraine areas.
