Musical Fun on the Green

Just 15 minutes south of the Washington House Inn, thousands of music lovers will congregate in Mequon’s Rotary Park at 4000 W. Highland Road, on July 11 or July 12, depending on their musical preference. Gathering on the Green, Wisconsin’s two-day outdoor summer musical extravaganza, is pulling out all the stops for its 20th anniversary this upcoming weekend.

Anyone who’s a Beatles’ fan should be sure to get there early on Friday for dancing and singing along under the stars to all of the Beatles’ most popular songs by The Fab Four, frequently called the best American Beatles’ Tribute Band ever. These four guys, who will be flying in from the West Coast, have all sorts of tricks up their sleeves, including numerous costume changes to represent the band’s different eras. On Saturday, rock and classical music will be on the menu when Emmy-award winning composer Mark Wood dazzles audiences with his prowess on the electric violin. The founding member of the multi-platinum symphonic Trans-Siberian Orchestra will put on his signature rock-orchestra performance complete with LED lights, fog and fireworks. He will be joined by concertmaster of the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra, Frank Almond – recently in the news when his priceless Stradivarius was stolen, and then retrieved – who will perform a selection of classical pieces. Fireworks set to music will end the evening with a bang.
